BBC Radio 1 has announced two new presenters for its Friday Early Breakfast show, including Richie Driss from St Albans.

Richie and BBC Asian Network presenter SMASHBengali will each take a slot as part of a monthly rotation, with Richie taking April and SMASHBengali taking May.

The TV and radio host once attended Harpenden's Roundwood Park School and studied media at Sir John Lawes School.

Richie studied Film and Television at University of Wales, Aberystwyth, before eventually ending up in local radio and launching his own series on GRM Daily.

He then joined Joe Media in 2016 before landing his dream job on Blue Peter.

The St Albans resident has previously hosted Blue Peter, the New York Jets: Touchdown UK podcast and BT Sport's The Special One.

Responding to the news, Richie posted on social media: "Still the best sort of weird to me!

"When I first started in radio years ago and was a manifestation babe the BBC Radio 1 logo was printed off and taped to my bedroom ceiling, so to present throughout April is unreal!

"Catch you cats then."
