St Albans fashion store Copperfield is set to shut its doors at the end of the month.

The Chequer Street shop announced that it would be closing down on Thursday, February 29, with a 'closing down sale' now in place.

Copperfield stocks a range of clothing brands along with accessories, gifts and footwear.

The store's discontinuation has been described as a "pause" for the company, rather than a permanent closure.

An announcement, made on Copperfield website states: "Following the celebration of our 50th year in business, we feel now is the right time to take a pause, we will sadly be closing our doors on February 29 and taking some time away from the fashion industry.

"Thank you for your support up to now and we will see you again soon."
