St Albans Museums is offering a fun-filled programme of activities for children this half term.

From Saturday, February 17 to Sunday, February 25, families can take part in a free creative shape trail inspired by Rana Begum's exhibition Ordered Form at St Albans Museum + Gallery.

Families can also visit the Verulamium Museum to meet a Roman Soldier who was stationed in Verulamium during Boudica’s rebellion.

This meet and greet will take place on Monday and Wednesday and is included in the museum’s regular admission fee.

The museum and gallery is hosting a Mosaic Making Workshop on Tuesday, February 20, under the guide of a St Albans mosaic artist.

The workshop, which is suitable for adults and children aged four and up, costs £12.50 per ticket.

The Roman-themed fun continues on Thursday 22 with a Roman mask-making workshop.

For a fee of £5, participants can craft their very own mini mask, similar to those worn by actors in Roman theatres.

For younger children, Verulamium Museum presents Tots Tales on Friday 23.

The immersive one-hour session, suitable for children aged two to four, includes a story and craft activity centred around 'The Suitcase' by Chris Naylor-Ballesteros, as well as a museum treasure hunt.

This costs the museum's admission fee plus an additional £6.50 per child.

On Saturday 24, families can join in a game of dice at Verulamium Museum, where Roman and Ancient Briton model soldiers will fight.

Finally, on Sunday 25, writer Anna Reynolds will take adults through an Expressive Writing Workshop.

The ticket price is £10 per person.

St Albans Museum + Gallery is also presenting a solo exhibition by acclaimed artist Rana Begum, featuring her specially fabricated sculptures, paintings and screen prints, until April 14.

Meanwhile Becoming Us: African Caribbean St Albans - which chronicles the African Caribbean community's contributions to St Albans for the past 80 years - is open until June 30.

The Craft in the Colonnade will be open throughout the school holidays from Monday to Saturday at the Verulamium Museum.

Refreshments will be available at the Courtroom Café at St Albans Museum + Gallery.
