Comedian Ben Elton will be performing at the Alban Arena later this year.

The show forms part of his new comedy tour, Authentic Stupidity, which followed his well-received UK tour in 2019 that marked his return to live comedy after a 15-year gap.

Elton will perform at the Alban Arena on Saturday, September 21, with the show starting at 7.30pm.

The comedian said: "The verdict is in: humanity is thick, homo halfwit. The idiot branch of the Ape family.

"We need signs to tell us to step off escalators, we elect gibbering fools to lead us and now we’ve invented Artificial Intelligence which is actually going to replace us.

"I’ve spent 45 years in comedy exploring the outer limits of human idiocy and my mission has never been more timely.

"Forget AI, it’s AS we need to be worrying about."

Elton first burgeoned into the national consciousness in the 1980s by hosting Channel 4's Saturday Live.

This marked his entry to the world of comedy and with an illustrious career which spans over four decades, his contributions to entertainment extend beyond stand-up comedy.

He has written West End musicals such as We Will Rock You and The Beautiful Game.

Also a novelist, he's the author of best-selling books like Stark, Dead Famous, and Two Brothers.

His forays into film, like Maybe Baby and Three Summers, add another feather to his cap.

In October last year, Elton returned to Channel 4 with a one-off revival of Friday Night Live.

He also bagged the BAFTA for Comedy Entertainment Programme in 2023.

Elton's prospective performance at the Alban Arena is part of a larger tour with 54 dates spread across the UK and Ireland, starting from York Barbican on September 1 and ending at London's West End on November 18.

Tickets for this event are available from the box-office at the Alban Arena for £34.50, with a transaction fee of £3.50 per booking for online and telephone transactions.

The address for the events venue is: The Alban Arena Civic Centre, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL1 3LD.
