A train line between St Albans and Watford is blocked “until further notice” after damage.

Damage to overhead wires has meant all trains between St Albans Abbey and Watford Junction were confirmed to be cancelled from around 9am today (December 28).

As of around 9.30am, all departures from St Albans Abbey are displaying as cancelled until 1.38pm through National Rail. However, while they have not been cancelled, there is no confirmation later trains will run.

Tickets can be used on the 321 bus service between Watford and St Albans and rail replacement buses are operating.

Trains on the Abbey Line have been cancelled repeatedly over the past year.

So far this month, all journeys on the Abbey Line were replaced with buses during the full duration of train drivers’ union ASLEF’s overtime ban and strike action (from December 1 to 9), a fault on a train blocked services on December 18, and a fallen tree stopped trains on December 21.
