In Radlett, a two-storey home is set to be demolished to make way for three new houses in the area.

Plans were approved yesterday (Monday, December 18) which would see new two-storey dwellings constructed on Newlands Avenue, each with a basement and garage.

Parking, a gatehouse and "re-sited access" has also been approved.

A design and access statement attached to the application reads: "This site presents a unique opportunity to create an enclave of exceptionally designed homes that will make efficient use of land and contribute to the quality and evolving character of the local area.

"The site entrance will feature a new tree-lined driveway leading from Newlands Avenue into the heart of the development.

"This driveway will offer a scenic and transitional path from the existing street character to the generously landscaped plots within.

"The boundaries of these plots will be carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding greenery, creating a visually appealing and harmonious environment.

Nineteen public comments were made to the plans, six objecting to the development.
