Pupils from a village primary school have made it their mission to spread festive cheer far and wide, culminating in a performance under the iconic clock tower in St Albans last weekend to raise money for Herts Young Homeless.

By the end of term, pupils at Redbourn Primary school will have put on eight carol concerts, singing in the local church, several community groups, a residential care home and two Christmas Fayres.

Their efforts in the centre of St Albans on Saturday drew their biggest crowd yet.

The children, aged seven to 11, braved the -2°C temperatures to delight the crowds.

"Our school prides itself on demonstrating kindness, respect and empathy," said headteacher Emma Fenn.

"The children have enjoyed being able to bring music and joy to so many community groups in Redbourn, and being able to sing under the famous clock tower in St Albans was the icing on the cake."
