St Albans-based charity Emmaus Hertfordshire has received a double donation to aid its ongoing efforts to tackle homelessness.
A £25,000 donation has been made by Bishop's Stortford-based fragrance company CPL Aromas, while a "much-needed" van has been provided by gas distribution network Cadent.
Emmaus Hertfordshire provides accommodation and care for up to 36 people who have experienced homelessness.
Upon receiving the £25,000 donation from CPL Aromas, the charity's chief executive Duncan Lewis, said: "A huge thank you to CPL Aromas for their very generous donation which will help us fund the first year’s salary of a new role of Companion Development and Wellbeing worker.

“This role will help us to focus more proactively on companion development and wellbeing, beyond the scope of the basic work experience and day-to-day support they currently receive.”
The company donated a further £25,000 to Emmaus UK, in order to support the charity's national initiatives.
Chris Pickthall, CEO of CPL Aromas, added: "We are delighted to support Emmaus and help them in their work to take homeless people off the streets, give them work and accommodation and help them get their lives back on track."
Meanwhile, a van was donated to Emmaus Hertfordshire by Cadent Gas.
The vehicle will be used for house collections and to transfer pre-loved items to and from the charity's four Hertfordshire shops, and its community workshop in Crosby Close.
Duncan continued: "The Transit van, which has been so generously donated by Cadent, will make a huge difference to the social enterprise we run to fund our charitable work.
“Vehicle purchase and maintenance costs are a big expense for us, so to have a vehicle that is as versatile as a Transit donated free of charge and delivered to the door is amazing.

“We will put it to really good use, collecting and delivering the recycled and upcycled furniture we sell as well as helping with our house clearance operation.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Cadent who has made this possible.”
Frederick Bowlby, Cadent’s sustainability and social purpose advisor, commented: “We are delighted our North London team have been able to support Emmaus Hertfordshire by donating this much-needed van for their charitable work.
“Donating this newer vehicle will help to keep their community on the road to provide support for Emmaus companions in a more sustainable way.”
