Walkers can tackle a stretch of the Hertfordshire Way to help support children's charities in St Albans.

The Great Big Walk for Herts is being organised by Helping Herts, who bring together local charities.

Each charity will walk a different leg of the journey - between nine and 15 miles - on Saturday, September 30, covering 180 miles in total.

The Codicote to St Albans leg will support Home-Start Herts, Markyate to St Albans will support Herts Young Homeless and St Albans to Markyate will support The Ollie Foundation - with Markyate to Tring yet to be announced.

Currently 14 teams are each walking a different section of the route.

Participants can choose to sign up to routes depending on where they would like to explore, or if there is a particular charity they wish to support.

Gordon Morrison, co-founder of Helping Herts, said: "It’s going to be a great day out with all the charities out walking different sections of the Hertfordshire Way in one day.

"All the funds raised from the event will help many children and their families throughout Hertfordshire.
