Two golfers from Hertfordshire have been named in England Golf's teams for this years Home Internationals.

Sophia Fullbrook, from the Melbourne Club at Brocket Hall, and Jack Bigham, from Harpenden Golf Club, have made the women's and men's teams respectively.

They will now compete for their country at the Home Internationals, held at Machynys Golf Club in Wales from August 9-11.

Over the course of the three days, the England teams will play Wales, Scotland and Ireland once each to decide who takes home the titles.

Sophia, 17, will be making her first England Women's appearance, having previously been in the England Girls squad for 2022/23.

Last year, she won the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship, which is colloquially known as the unofficial major of junior golf.

Over the course of the tournament, each country will play seven foursome games and 14 single games. Team positions in each category will then be determined by the highest number of match points.

England, who have won the Men’s Home Internationals 46 times since it was first staged in 1932, will be hoping to retain their title they won at Ballyliffin Golf Club in Ireland last year.

Becca Hembrough, performance manager for women's golf, said: “This group has a strong combination of experience, form and a big desire to win points for England.

"It will be a great opportunity for them all to come together as a team at this exciting event.”

Gareth Jenkins, England Men's squad manager, added: “It will be a very competitive Home Internationals as the teams will be very equally matched but, as holders, we are confident we can challenge once again.”
