An 18-metre tall telecommunications pole has been planned for construction in St Albans.

The pole and "associated ancillary works" would be present at the junction between Victoria Street and Stanhope Road, near the St Albans Register Office.

The top of the tower will sit eight metres above the height of existing streetlights and approximate height of trees at the location.

The reason for the proposed construction are outlined by WHP Telecoms Ltd: "There is now a requirement to upgrade the Cignal Infrastructure UK Limited (Three) network to provide improved coverage and capacity, most notably in relation to 5G services...

"...Three are in the process of process of building out the UK's fastest 5G network."
