Police officers are investigating after four pubs and restaurants in St Albans were burgled.

The incidents occurred across two separate nights.

On Friday, August 19 last year, a rear window was removed from the Cock Inn on St Peter's Street between midnight and 5am.

Between 11pm on August 18 and 9am the following day, Thompson @ Darcy's on Hatfield Road was also broken into, with damage caused to computers and an ice machine.

Detective Sergeant Mark Chipchase, investigating, from the St Albans Local Crime Unit, says Herts police are now "linking" those burglaries to two others which occurred on Saturday, April 29 this year.

The April burglaries took place at the White Lion pub in Sopwell Lane and the Farmers Boy pub in London Road around 4am and 4.30am on the date in question.

CCTV images have now been released of a man police would like to speak to in connection with the incidents.

DS Chipchase said: “We previously released CCTV images of a man who we believed may have been able to help our enquiries. He remains unidentified but we now have new images of him and are hopeful that somebody recognises him from these new photos.
