A Ford Fiesta has overturned after being involved in a crash with a lorry on the M25, near St Albans.

The incident took place at around 8.42am this morning (Monday, June 19), on the road's anti-clockwise carriageway.

The Ford Fiesta Zetec crashed with the lorry between Junction 22 for St Albans, and Junction 21 for the M1.


Delays of approximately 35 minutes had been reported, prior to both vehicles being recovered.

All lanes have since been reopened.

One person has been taken to hospital, as a result of the collision.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Police were called at around 8.42am today (Monday 19 June), following reports of a road traffic collision on the M25.

"The incident happened near Junction 22 for St Albans, and involved a lorry and a Ford Fiesta Zetec.

"It is reported that the car overturned on its side, and two lanes have been shut as a result."

A spokesperson for National Highways added: "The vehicles involved in the collision on the M25 anti-clockwise between J22 (St Albans) and J21 (M1 link) have now been recovered from the scene.

"All lanes have been reopened with residual delays of 20 minutes on the approach."

Lastly, a spokesperson for the Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service commented: "Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 8:40am this morning to reports of a collision between a car and an HGV on the M25 anticlockwise between junctions 22 and 21A.

"Four fire engines and a rescue support unit were sent to the scene, where crews found one car on its roof.

"Nobody was trapped, so firefighters provided trauma care until the ambulance arrived.

"One person was taken to hospital by the ambulance service and one person was given first aid at the scene.

"Firefighters left the scene shortly before 9:30am."
