Oaklands College is holding its annual end-of-year fashion show on the St Albans campus, with an emphasis on sustainable designs.

The fashion show takes place on Thursday, June 15, and the art, fashion and design department is hosting a week-long exhibition to showcae its students' talents until June 16.

The exhibition features creative work across all art and design courses, from level 1 to Post-18 Foundation. For the first time the adult certificate course will also be exhibiting their work - some of which will be available for sale.

Through their work this year students have been interpreting the theme of 'Odysseys', choosing either to draw inspiration from Homer's Odyssey or to extend the theme to current issues, such as immigrants fleeing from conflict in their home countries.

The fashion show offers the opportunity for first and second-year students to showcase their collections.

Oaklands College deputy principal Claire Dolan said: "We received kind donations of fabric and denim, from supporters including St Francis Hospice, which has allowed us to have a 100 per cent sustainable fabric fashion show, which is great news.

"The college is asking for a minimal ticket cost donation of £2 per person and money raised from the fashion show will go towards materials and equipment for fashion students who require extra financial support at Oaklands College."
