Production has started on the second season of Sky exclusive drama series House of the Dragon at Leavesden in Hertfordshire.
Sky confirmed today (Tuesday, April 11) that series two of the acclaimed Game of Thrones prequel is now under way at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.
The series also teased a first look image of behind the scenes ahead of Sky Atlantic viewers being taken back to Westeros.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s 'Fire & Blood', the HBO series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen - the dragon-riding noble family who once ruled the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.

The first season of House of the Dragon - which was filmed extensively at Leavesden - bagged the Best Drama Series at the Golden Globe Awards 2023.
Ryan Condal, co-creator, showrunner and executive producer, said: “House of the Dragon has returned. We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera.
"All your favourite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can't wait to share what we have in store.”
Confirmed cast members for season 2 of House of the Dragon include Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen.
The House of the Dragon cast also includes Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Additional returning cast includes Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.
Filming of the first season of House of the Dragon used four sound stages at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, including the state-of-the-art new Virtual Production stage.
The backlot of the film and TV studios near Watford was also used for a number of huge sets, including the 'battle on the beach' in episode 3.
They even built a ship on the backlot for scenes from the first series.
House of the Dragon creatives also used Leavesden's multi-purpose workshop spaces to create their amazing props for the award-winning series.
The team at Warner Bros. Set Lighting and Rigging also provided the set lighting and rigging for the studio and on location shoots.
When the show subsequently bagged a Golden Globe, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden posted on social media: "Huge congratulations to the whole cast and crew of @houseofthedragonhbo for winning the #GoldenGlobe for Best TV Drama Series!

It is not known yet when House of the Dragon series two will arrive on Sky.
