A Hemel Hempstead man has been charged following seven burglaries, which all took place this year.

Ashley Claircin was arrested on Friday (March 24), and was subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit burglary with intent to steal.

The first incident took place on January 26, between 3.42am and 3.49am.

At that time, Tucks and Tonic - on Bellgate, Hemel Hempstead - was broken into.

According to Herts police, "large quantities" of cigarettes were stolen and money was taken from the till. (Crime reference 41/7155/23)

The same store was broken into at around 3.23am on February 8, with several tobacco items stolen. (Crime reference 41/10803/23)

At approximately 4am on February 9, Martin's Newsagent - on Bennetts Gate, Hemel Hempstead - was broken into.

On this occasion, "thousands of pounds" worth of cigarettes and tobacco products were taken. (Crime reference 41/11081/23)

At around 4.27am on February 20, Bennetts End Road's Londis was broken into, and cigarettes were stolen. (Crime reference 41/14506/23)

On March 1, Martin's Newsagents on Shenley Road was broken into at approximately 4.27am.

Cash was taken from the till, and nicotine and tobacco products were taken. (Crime reference 41/17241/23)

The same store was broken into on March 7, between 3.54am and 3.59am.

Tobacco and nicotine products were taken. (Crime reference 41/19055/23)

Lastly, at 4.04am on March 24, Texaco - on Primrose Hill, Kings Langley - was broken in to and cigarettes were stolen (Crime reference 41/23983/23).

Ashley Claircin will appear at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, April 24.

Chief Inspector for Dacorum Jason Keane said: “I hope this result provides reassurance to our local community, and in particular, to our local businesses.

"Our investigation still continues at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting the relevant crime reference number above.

“If you witness someone behaving suspiciously, please call 999 immediately – a crime could be in progress, and by calling us we have the best possible chance of catching the offender.”
