Two St Albans rappers have worked together to create a song which highlights financial difficulties.

'Bankrupt' will be released via "the epicentre of Black British music" GRM Daily, on Monday (March 27).

The track has been created by Ice 07 and rap-battle specialist Killa Impact, who have known each other for some years and utilise the same recording studio - Bandicoot Studios, in St Albans.

According to Ice 07, the track highlights the current financial difficulties that face many people in today's society, with lyrics such as "trying to stay afloat with a raft full of holes" and "if I mess up, I go bankrupt".

Speaking to The Herts Advertiser, Ice 07 said: "It's pretty much self-explanatory!

"It's about being bankrupt and then building yourself up, and trying to achieve your goals."

Asked whether the themes of the song are based on personal experience, the artist replied: "I would say it is actually based on my personal experience, but it's something that everyone can relate to.

"We've all had hard times and dark days financially.

"So it's definitely a song that everyone can relate to, and that's what I like my music to be about.

"It's to be as relatable as possible, I feel that's important."

On working with Killa Impact, Ice 07 continued: "He's renowned on the UK rap-battle scene.

"We've always known each other, and there's a mutual respect there for our crafts and what we do.

"We pretty much just bumped into each other, and were listening to each others music, when we thought 'why don't we just record something together'.

"It had been a while since we'd done that, so it just made sense.

"Then one thing led to another."

Speaking of the video being shown on GRM Daily, the rapper described the release as "massive".

He added: "GRM is the biggest platform in the country for Hip Hop and Urban music.

"I believe that they have over 5.5 million subscribers, and their channels had billions of views and streams."
