On the day, the leisure centre will be hosting an open day in which a number of free activities can be enjoyed.

Olympic silver medallist Colin Jackson will also be in attendance, along with freestyle footballers Ben Nuttall and Steve Gray.

Jackson recently attended an open day at St Albans' Batchwood Golf and Sports Centre.

A "number of new and exciting improvements" will be revealed at the location, including a cycling studio, gym renovation and HIIT FORTIS studio.

Everyone Active contract manager Steve Cox said: "We’re incredibly excited to invite the community down to Harpenden Leisure Centre on Saturday, January 14.

“Having recently undergone a major refurbishment, it’s a great way for us to introduce the new facilities to everyone including the upgraded gym and FORTIS studio.

“We’re pulling out all the stops to make it an unmissable event, from hosting a wide range of activities all for free, to having sporting heroes such as Harry Redknapp and Colin Jackson come down to meet everyone – it’s set to be a fantastic day for all!”

A separate launch event will take place on Monday (January 16), when Alan Shearer will officially open the new studio.
