Mr Murray said: "It was a surprise, an honour and a privilege to have received this award – my efforts are but the tip of the iceberg, with hundreds of willing backstage helpers. It would not have been possible without an amazing backstage team and a superb cast of talented young people on stage.

"Fifty years ago, I was one of those young people, and it has been fantastic to give back, so that they might get the same fun, friendships and the skills that have helped me in later life."
