Tickets are now on sale for the second annual Ladies’ Lunch in aid of Rennie Grove Hospice Care. Organised by lifelong St Albans resident, Anne Swanston, the event will take place at Verulam Golf Club on Friday 25 November from 11.30am.

Anne has organised the event to raise money for Rennie Grove after its Hospice at Home nurses cared for her late husband Grahame before he passed away in December 2020.

Anne says: “You really don’t appreciate what good hospice care is, or what it can do, until you need it yourself. Rennie Grove’s Hospice at Home nurses looked after Grahame at home during the last month or so of his life and I don’t know what we would have done without them.

“At such a horrendous time, the care and support offered by the Hospice at Home team made things feel more bearable. I knew that the team was there to support us through whatever we faced, day or night.

“After Grahame died I was able to access counselling support at Grove House in St Albans. This was hugely helpful to me and makes me grateful for the fact that Rennie Grove is not just there for the person with a life-limiting illness, but their family and loved ones too.”

Anne organised her first Ladies’ Lunch last November, as Grahame’s first anniversary approached. The event was a huge success, raising almost £7,500 through ticket sales, on-the-day fundraising and donations - including match funding from The Big Give Christmas Challenge.

Tickets for this year’s event cost £50 which includes drinks on arrival and a 2-course lunch with wine. For more information visit renniegrove.org or e-mail community@renniegrove.org.
