A SECONDARY school in St Albans and 1,500 homes were hit by a power cut this afternoon (Monday).
St Albans Girls School (STAGS) in Sandridgebury Lane, lost power just before 3pm due to a fault on a high-voltage underground electricity cable which also affected the nearby homes.
A spokesperson for EDF Energy said that engineers were currently investigating the cause of the fault and added: "We are working to ensure all supplies are restored as quickly as is safely possible. We appreciate how difficult it is to lose power, especially at this time of year, and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
