HUNDREDS of people enjoyed a fun-filled day in the sunshine on Sunday, thanks to local police.
Families and friends flocked to the community day in Greenwood Park, Chiswell Green, to revel in a range of activities and entertainment on offer throughout the day.
St Stephen PCSO Kelvin 'Mack' Mackenzie organised the event with the aim of rejuvenating a sense of community spirit.
He believes it did just that and now hopes to hold the day biannually. He said: "The day met the objective of getting the community together in a fun environment. It was a huge success with in excess of 500 people and we had excellent feedback from visitors."
Kelvin said the cage in the back of the police car on show was a popular attraction for the children who enjoyed being locked in.
Among the other activities to try out was a chance to conquer a three-metre tall Mont Blanc climbing wall and pony rides courtesy of the Chiswell Green Riding School.
Impersonator Elvis Schmelvis, the Blue Velvet line dancers and Kidz Rock entertained the crowds, who also enjoyed a barbecue laid on by the Park Street butchers.
Kelvin and neighbourhood PCs Vince O'Malley and Nikki Fisher were on hand to speak to locals along with St Albans firefighters, who booked dozens of fire safety visits, and the Britannia Ambulance Service.
Kelvin thanked everyone who assisted him in organising the day, including St Stephen Parish Council and those in the local community who went along and the day a success.
