A LARGE haystack in the middle of a field has been burning since the early hours of Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to the scene at Hillend Farm, Sandridge, just after midnight but decided to let the haystack of around 200 bales burn out itself.
They continue to monitor the blaze, which lies to the west side of St Albans Road heading out of the village.
It is believed that the fire was started deliberately due to its isolated position.
