A WOMAN was pushed to the ground and had her handbag grabbed by a thief who then rifled through it and made off with cash in the early hours of last Saturday morning.
The 27-year-old victim was walking along Hillside Road in St Albans at 3.45am when the man, described as white, around 6ft tall and wearing a dark beanie hat and hoodie, pushed her from behind.
He grabbed her handbag and rifled through it before throwing it back at her. He then made off towards St Peter's Street with cash from the handbag.
Investigating officer, Dc Andy Boyer, said: "The woman involved in this case was understandably very shaken but thankfully incidents of this nature in the area are rare."
