GO Hungry for Haiti is the message that a church in St Albans is spreading throughout the city.
The Vineyard Church in Brick Knoll Park is calling on local residents to swop their daily food bill for a donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), which has so far collected over �25 million for its Haiti Earthquake Appeal.
The church, which has joined the growing number of voices pushing for Haiti's outstanding $891 million of international debt to be cancelled in light of last week's earthquake, is encouraging everyone to take part in the 24-hour fast next Wednesday.
Leader of the Vineyard Church Chris Lane said that he hoped the fast proved to be popular: "The response of people in the UK has been tremendous and we are encouraging them to go hungry for a day and give a little more."
Anyone who wishes to join in the campaign is asked to make their donation online at www.dec.org.uk
