A NEW walking map recommending three routes has been launched to encourage people to discover a parish’s diverse countryside scenery.

St Stephen Parish Council has designed the map to take in the villages of Park Street, Bricket Wood and Chiswell Green with the routes varying in length and the option to shorten walks by taking the link paths shown.

There are many miles of footpaths in the St Stephen parish with some known more than others, so it’s hoped the project will open up new vistas to local residents and visitors alike.

The project was funded by the parish council using a grant from the Parish Paths Partnership Scheme and put together by Cllrs Bill Pryce, Mike Freeman and John Bell with graphic designer Stephen Bell. The routes will be indicated with bright yellow St Stephen Parish Circular Walk signs and the folded map is available for free from the parish office, Greenwood Park Community Centre, local shops and other outlets.

Three community walks to promote the routes will be taking place over the summer. Meet at The Three Hammers pub at 10am on July 18 for the Chiswell Green walk, at the Parish Centre in Bricket Wood at 10am on August 15 for the Bricket Wood walk, and at Park Street School at 10am on September 19 for the Park Street walk.
