A major city-centre car park has been added to the new electronic system designed to ease congestion.
The Maltings is the latest car park to join the new network of signs which directs drivers to available spaces in the city’s main car parks.
The aim of the variable messaging signage system is to help drivers find available car parking spaces as quickly and easily as possible by removing the need for them to drive around the city centre searching for a spare car parking space.
The Maltings together with the district council-owned car parks at Bricket Road, London Road and the Russell Avenue/Drovers Way multi-storey are all connected to the system and now fully operational.
Talks are in progress with the owners of Christopher Place about adding their site to the scheme.
Variable message signs can be found at Holywell Hill, Verulam Road, St Peter’s Street, Hatfield Road, London Road and outside the London Road car park.
