A BIRTHDAY party at a Harpenden club was also an opportunity to say farewell to its outgoing chairman, former St Albans Mayor Ken Jenkins.
Regular helper and Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Pat Kent, joined Harpenden Seniors Club in Leyton Road to mark its birthday and the retirement of Mr Jenkins who has given over 35 years service to the club which was previously known as Harpenden Day Centre.
Cllr Rosemary Farmer is taking over his role and is determined to follow in his footsteps by calling in regularly and adding her own expertise to the services.
Cllr Kent said: “This has been a wonderful afternoon for all our members with a lovely sing along before tea which all seemed to enjoy immensely. It really was a great send-off for Ken for all his many years of hard work.”
