ST ALBANS: Local women who have lost friends and loved ones to cancer have organised a Christmas Fair in the city to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Event organiser Kathryn Crossley, of St Albans, said the “Doing it for Charity” event at the Noke/Thistle Hotel from 9.30am until 3pm next Wednesday, November 17, would offer visitors 40 stands of festive food, gifts and accessories.

She said visitors would be “delighted” with the selection of stands targeted at covering Christmas needs, ranging from puddings, mince pies and stollen to crackers, cakes, jams and preserves. There would also be stalls selling Christmas gifts and the first 100 visitors would receive a goody bag donated by various sponsors.

Refreshments will be available from a “Doing it for Charity” coffee bar at the event and there would be entertainment throughout.

Overflow parking for the fundraiser will be available at Burston Garden Centre, with a door-to-door shuttle bus service to the Noke Thistle Hotel on Watford Road.

Kathryn, who has spent the past eight months planning the Christmas fair, said it had mainly been organised by five local women, all of whom had lost somebody to cancer, along with an additional 45 volunteers.

Entrance is by programme: 1.50 in advance or 2 on the day. For more details please see www.doingitforcharity.org.uk or email Kathryn on doingitforcharity@gmail.com
