OVER 200 people, local dignitaries and representatives from faith groups attended the inauguration of St Albans Masorti Synagogue’s (SAMS) new rabbi on Sunday.
Rabbi Jeremy Gordon performed the official inauguration of Rafi Kaiserblueth at the ceremony which took place at Verulam School. Children from SAMS’ Cheder (Sunday school) sang songs in Hebrew and English and the synagogue’s youth group, Noam, performed for the guests.
The co-chair of SAMS, Dr Jonathan Freedman, said: “As we celebrate with Rabbi Rafi at his inauguration we know that he has an abundance of the necessary ingredients to serve and develop our community. He is warm, knowledgeable, compassionate and generous. He is dedicated wholeheartedly to SAMS and to nurturing us as we take the next exciting steps in our journey together.”
Rabbi Rafi Kaiserblueth graduated from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York earlier this year but had been SAMS’ visiting scholar-in-residence since December 2007.
