TWO unique village signs welcoming residents and visitors to a village have been stolen and police are appealing for their return.
The green and gold Wheathampstead parish council owned signs, which are 3 ft across by 1 ft high, were taken from their posts in Marford Road and Lamer Lane between February 1 and February 11.
Pc Arthur Wilkes said: “The Wheathampstead community are really keen to be reunited with the signs because they are unique and have been in situ for a long time. They may have been taken as a prank or someone may be trying to sell them on. If you are offered them for sale or know there whereabouts, we would like to hear from you.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Wheathampstead Neighbourhood Team on 01707 806143 or the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.
