AN AWARD-WINNING band from St Albans have announced the release date for their second album today.
Friendly Fires will release Pala, named after the island in Aldous Huxley’s 1962 novel “Island”, on May 16. It is the band’s second album and they hope it will build on the success of their eponymous debut album which was released in September 2008 and sold over 200,000 copies in the UK. The album picked up a Mercury Prize nomination and two Brit Award nominations.
Pala was recorded over the past 12 months in various locations including London, St Albans, Rye in Sussex, Yvetot in France and New York. It has been produced by Friendly Fires and Paul Epworth.
Ed Macfarlane, Edd Gibson and Jack Savidge all attended St Albans School and the three friends formed their first group when they were 14.
The first single from the album is called Live Those Days Tonight and BBC’s Radio 1 will play the track tonight (Tuesday March 22) on Zane Lowe’s show. Fans will be able to check out the single after this at www.wearefriendlyfires.com
