A GOLF day organised by the Rotary Club of St Albans Verulamium raised over 5,350 for Grove House, significantly swelling the funds raised by loyal golfers across this community.

Verulam Golf Club captain, Brian Pierson, chose Grove House (part of Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care), as the charity to support during this his Captain’s year. Grove House supporter and Rotarian Norman Jelley organised the successful event at the golf club which provided its facilities free of charge for the day. The event is now in its ninth year.

Their next charity event is already planned and looks to be yet another winner. On September 20 at Verulam Golf Club again there will be a ‘4x4’ challenge, sponsored by Lancaster Range Rover of Welwyn Garden City.

Bede Fox, president of the St Albans Verulamium Rotary Club, recently visited the hospice and presented the cheque to Steve Cuthbert, chair of trustees. Bede said: “We are pleased and proud to be able to continue to support Grove House.

“The work they do in this community is vital. Many of our friends have been touched by cancer, so we have seen first hand some of the amazing care and support that Grove House can provide. We are pleased to see the hospice services growing from strength to strength.”

Grove House relies on the local community for over 90 per cent of its funding across the area. If you or your organisation would like to get involved, please contact liz.hizli@grove-house.org.uk
