THE circumstances surrounding the death of a Wheathampstead woman whose body went undiscovered for over two weeks remain unknown after an inquest last Tuesday.
Reporting an open verdict, Herts Coroner Edward Thomas, said that the body of Annette Modley had been so badly decomposed when it was discovered that the cause of death was unascertainable.
The alarm had been raised by a friend of Ms Modley who had been unable to contact her and had seen flies at the window of her home in Beech Crescent.
Police forced entry into the 49 year old’s home on June 8 this year and found her body in the second bedroom of her flat.
Two empty bottles of mouth wash and two buckets, which looked like they had contained water at some point, were found near her body.
Officers found a note with “I can’t take it any more” in the kitchen.
Mr Thomas said that it was not possible to identify when Ms Modley had died.
