HUNDREDS of residents in London Colney who were asked to park elsewhere to allow for road resurfacing of their pothole-pocked street have been apologised to after workers failed to show up.
Residents of Alexander Road, Oldfield Road and Five Acres were sent a letter a fortnight ago warning them they risked having vehicles towed away if they remained parked on their streets Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22-23, during scheduled work.
However a spokesman for Herts Highways has apologised, explaining workers were unable to resurface Alexander Road, “due to delays caused by the recent spell of wet weather”.
He added: “Unfortunately, we are not able to carry out this work if the road surface is wet or damp and this has set back our works programme considerably.
“Due to an administrative error the postponement of these works was not made clear. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and will be writing to residents shortly to advise when the works will now take place.”
