LEGAL action could now be taken against the proposed Radlett rail freight depot after the Secretary of State turned down the district council’s request to reopen the inquiry.
Last month St Albans district council wrote to Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, asking for him to reopen the inquiry and conjoin it with an inquiry into an alternative site at Colnbrook in Slough.
Despite indicating they would challenge the issue through judicial review in the High Court, yesterday (February 7) the council learned in a letter from the Treasury Solicitor’s Department the plans will not be reconsidered.
Currently the council is seeking legal advice on how to proceed following the latest development.
