The St Albans Food and Drink Awards ceremony has been panned in the wake of poor ticket sales and several high-profile restaurateurs pulling out.
Richard Shwe, head of community services at St Albans district council, said of the cancellation of the October 3 event: “Without the support of the whole food and drink community there is insufficient demand for tickets to make this event viable.”
The awards are still going ahead but winners will now be crowned at the festival finale in St Peter’s Street on October 6.
