A powerful force for good in a troubled world was celebrated with a flag-raising ceremony in Harpenden last week.
Town Mayor, Councillor Rosemary Farmer, who is president of the Harpenden UNA, was at the Town Hall ceremony to mark the 68th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations in October 1945. Refreshments followed the raising of the flag and a few words from chairman Trevor Evans quoting current UN secretary general Ban Ki Moon.
The Mayor said “The UN remains a powerful force for good in a troubled world and I am delighted the town council has been and remains a long term supporter of Harpenden UNA.”
