Get your cameras at the ready – we are looking for the best photographs of the first St Albans Christmas Market, to be used in promotional materials for the 2014 Christmas Market.

The winner’s photograph will feature prominently on the Christmas Market website next year and may be on some of the marketing materials such as the banners and posters around the county.

The winning picture, and two runners up, will also be published in the Herts Advertiser over the Christmas period and there will be an online gallery devoted to all the pictures we receive.

Some of the photography of Christmas markets around Germany and the rest of Europe has become almost iconic in recent years, and we are after a picture that sums up the festive feeling of a European-style Christmas market, but that also captures some of the magic of the city of St Albans.

It doesn’t have to be a straight-forward image - you can be as creative as you like.

To enter: Send your photograph (maximum of three per person) to loudbird@btinternet.com by December 20.

Please include your name, age and email address with your entry.

Three winning photographs will be selected by the Herts Advertiser, Loudbird PR and Communications and St Albans City & District Council.

A maximum of three entries per person will be accepted. The Herts Ad cannot take responsibility for entries which are lost or delayed. The winner and two runners up will have their photograph published in the Herts Advertiser over Christmas.

The winning photograph will also be used on the Christmas Market website and may feature on some promotional materials for the St Albans Christmas Market 2014 by the council.

There is no cash alternative to the prize. All entrants agree to their photograph being used for the purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity, without additional compensation.

All entries must be able to supply a high resolution image suitable for printing on promotional material. Email entries only. Images should be between 800KB-5MB.

The Herts Advertiser and St Albans City and District Council reserves the right to publicise the competition and the winners.

Winners will be notified by email. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
