The generosity of a person in the audience meant that a lunch hosted by TV personality Esther Rantzen in St Albans topped its £1,000 charity target.
Esther, the founder of Childline and more recently, The Silverline, was at St Michael’s Manor Hotel to speak at a lunch fundraiser for the disability charity DEMAND.
Not only did she talk about DEMAND and The Silverline but also about her experiences working with the actress Joan Collins.
Esther is founding patron of DEMAND which designs and manufactures bespoke equipment for children and adults living with disability.
The lunch, which was attended by St Albans Mayor, Cllr Annie Brewster, raised £1,046 which included a cheque for £500 left by someone in the audience.
