The success of two youth cafés means there may be a new teen hotspot on its way as the council is keen to fund another.
St Albans council is looking for community groups to come forward with proposals for a new youth café and apply for the Community Grants Fund 2014/15.
This comes after youth cafés in Cunningham, St Albans, and Redbourn have proved very successful with 13 to 19 year olds, offering them a place to meet up and socialise.
Richard Shwe, head of community services, said: “We want to hear from groups interested in running youth cafés in locations where little opportunity exists for young people.
“We are about to launch the Community Grants Fund for 2014/15 and would welcome applications from community groups looking to deliver new projects like these.”
The council provided £4,000 through the fund to St Albans Youth Café in Cunningham, run by Faith and Cultural Enterprise, which offers a place to meet from 6pm-8pm on Tuesday evenings.
Redbourn Youth Café at the village recreation centre has 27 young people join them between 7.30pm-10pm on Friday nights and also offers the chance to learn first aid.
