As the summer fayre season gets into full swing, one college welcomed more than 7,000 visitors to their June extravaganza.

Oaklands College in St Albans saw the community come in their thousands to join in the fun last Sunday. Visitors were greeted with countless activities celebrating the diversity of courses available at the college.

Students had the perfect opportunity to showcase their talents, with a student fashion, art and design show taking centre stage, as well as performances from the Music and Performing Arts students.

The fayre, which was bigger than ever this year, saw the new addition of sheep sheering, pony rides, and a daredevil entertainer.

People partied their way through the afternoon to the live music, with the welcome addition of a fun fair for children at the event.

Marquees hosted countless stalls celebrating local produce, from hand painted glass to local honey.

The day saw a great fundraising opportunity for the college and local charities, with the likes of St Albans and District Cat Protection having stalls.

Zoe Hancock, principal of Oaklands College, said: “We were really delighted with how successful our summer fayre was this year, and have had some fantastic feedback.

“We think it is really important for the college to be at the heart of its community and hope that this year’s event, which had more going on than ever, demonstrates it.”
