Broken concrete, trashed cash registers and torn-off doors can be seen in photos following this morning’s burglary at St Albans City Football Club’s headquarters at Clarence Park.
Herts Police have launched an appeal for information following this morning’s break-in and burglary at the Saints’ base.
A member of the public was alerted to the break-in, which occurred between 3.15-3.38am, after hearing an alarm.
Photos show chunks of concrete missing from external steps where a fruit machine was thrown down.
The floor behind the bar is strewn with rubbish and broken glass, and a metal cellar door has been torn from its hinges.
A police spokesman said offenders had forced open a door to the storeroom and gained access into the main building and bar area, where they broke into the tills.
News of the break-in has appalled fans, with one asking: “Why do people do this?”
Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to phone Herts Police via non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
