Mum Marie Taylor had particular reason to be proud when her daughter Caroline received her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at St James’ Palace recently.
For like her mother before her, Caroline has achieved the full set of Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
And the mother and daughter from St Albans were photographed outside Westminster Cathedral following the presentation, both wearing their Gold DoE badges.
A former pupil of Loreto College in St Albans, Caroline’s DoE programme was based at the Pioneer Youth Club and she worked through it from the ages of 14 to 19.
Now 20, she is currently studying sports and materials science at the University of Birmingham.
Among the highlights of Caroline’s DoE experiences were expeditions to Mid-Wales and the Yorkshire Dales as well a three-week visit to China with the Study China programme for the residential section of the Gold Award.
