A Christmas shopping initiative designed to promote independent businesses in Harpenden has been hailed as a success.
Twenty six independent retailers, bars and restaurants in the town joined forces to promote Harpenden as the place for local people to do their Christmas shopping.
The promotion has been complemented by a free prize draw on the last two Fridays with prizes donated by local retailers. There were over 300 entries in last Friday’s draw and two more are being held - tomorrow and next Friday.
Keith Lunn, owner of Breathing Space, one of the retailers taking part, said: “There are some great shops in Harpenden offering a much more personal touch to ensure you choose the right Christmas gift.”
The promotion was launched at the Harpenden Christmas Carnival last month and it is funded and endorsed by the town council. it is organised by the Harpenden Retail Partnership and The Harpenden Society.
