Why not challenge yourself physically and mentally on a spectacular charity event which takes in some of the world’s most spectacular scenery?

The Moroccan 3 Peaks Challenge takes place in the High Atlas Mountain range, and offers a tempting adventure to fit trekkers in aid of Rennie Grove.

Jbel Toubkal, Jbel Ouanoukrim and M’Goun are Morocco’s three highest peaks, all over 4,000m altitude, and offer great trekking in the rugged and dramatic landscapes of both the Toubkal National Park and the Central High Atlas.

Events fundraiser Jo Hunt said: “This seven-day trek is graded challenging and you must be at a good level of fitness to ensure you have the best chance of success and the greatest enjoyment.

“This trek is accompanied by professional English-speaking local guides who have an excellent knowledge of trekking and culture in the region and are first aid trained. You will also be supported by a full support crew of cooks, mules (and muleteers) and a UK tour manager.”

The summit days are long and tiring and you will start trekking before dawn to reach the summit in good time.

The trek, which includes mainly camping overnight, can be undertaken by anyone of any age (minimum 18 unless accompanied by an adult) as long as you have a good level of fitness and you are healthy and determined. There is no upper age limit.

Jo added: “An ideal candidate for the trek would be someone who enjoys being out of their comfort zone and trying something new.”

A £270 registration fee is payable at the time of booking and once you are registered you must commit to raising at least £1,500 sponsorship.

Jo said: “The fundraising team will fully support you and help you with ideas on how you can raise funds. The target may sound daunting, but broken down into smaller pieces it is easily achievable. The money you raise will help to fund the work of our Hospice at Home nurses and Family Support Services.”

The trip, which takes place from September 19-27, includes flights from London, all transfers and transport in Morocco, accommodation, tents and sleeping mats on trek, all meals, local expert English-speaking guides, porters/mules and cooks, trekking permits and a UK Different Travel tour manager as well as a representative from Rennie Grove.

The closing date for registration is March 19 and an information evening is planned for March 10 at 7pm at Rennie House in Tring. Please visit www.renniegrove.org/moroccan3peaks for more details.
