Two people were taken to hospital - one of whom had to be cut from a car - after a road traffic accident in Harpenden on Tuesday lunchtime.
The collison between a silver Mercedes E220 and black Vauxhall Astra occurred shortly before 12.30pm in Salisbury Avenue.
The fire brigade were called to remove the roof of one of the cars to get an injured woman out the vehicle. She and another casualty were taken by ambulance to Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
The road was closed for over two hours, reopening at 2.30pm.
