A short blue light police chase in St Albans in the early hours of this morning ended with a car spinning out of control and hitting railings.
It happened after police were called to Batchwood Drive shortly before 3.30am to a report of a man behaving suspiciously.
As the police approached, the white Audi A4 drove off up Waverley Road before the driver lost control at the mini-roundabout with Normandy Road, close to the entrance to St Albans City Hospital, hitting both the railings and a road sign.
Three people in the car were checked over by ambulance and a 20-year-old man from Greenwich was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to stop for police and driving without a licence.
He was still being interviewed by police this morning.
