A 74-year-old former St Albans taxi driver has been found guilty of two counts of sexual assault.
Ali Abid Hussain, of Marshalswick, appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court on March 31 where he was sentenced to a 12-month supervised community order and placed on the sex offenders register for five years.
The court heard how in 2011 Hussain kissed a lone female passenger without her consent whilst she was sitting in the front seat of his taxi.
In 2013, Hussain touched the lone female passenger whilst she was sitting in the back of his taxi.
On both occasions Hussain, who was a taxi driver for 14 years, was making inappropriate sexual comments to the women.
DC Dean Trollope from St Alban’s local crime unit, said: “Ali Abid Hussain took advantage of his position as a taxi driver and assaulted these two women, in what should have been a place of safety.
“By them coming forward and reporting it, it has meant that Mr Hussain will no longer be able to drive a taxi and he has been placed on the sex offenders register.”
