Travellers who swooped upon privately owned land in the Green Belt were swiftly evicted the same day.
There was an incursion onto a field in Bricket Wood, close to Junction 21a of the M25, by 18 travellers last Friday (10).
With more vehicles expected to join the group, the combined efforts of Herts Police, the landowner and officers from St Albans district council resulted in the large group being told to leave the site by 6pm.
Sources, who saw police standing at the entrance of the site, said that the incursion was upon a paddock known to Bricket Wood villagers as Donkey Field which sits behind houses along Oakwood Road.
It belongs to a local garden centre owner.
